Space Pens
Paul Fisher developed the first successful pressurised Fisher Space Pen in 1965. NASA had been using pencils for their manned flights, but the graphite debris from the pencils was proving hazardous in the zero gravity of space. At the request of NASA Paul Fisher began to research an alternative. After much effort and one million dollars worth of research and development, the Fisher Space pen was born. Since that time they have been used in space missions by both the American and Russian space agencies.
Their ability to write on difficult surfaces and in difficult conditions (upside down and even under water!) Have made the Fisher Space Pen a firm favourite back here on earth too!
The Fisher pressurised refill is available in a wide range of colours and grades and also comes with a push-on adaptor, which allows it to be used in place of a standard ball pen refill in many other makes of pen.
Diplomat became the European distributor of Fisher, but now make their own pressurised refill pens, the Diplomat 'Spacetec' range.
